Some foods, such as cheese, help increase the acidity in your mouth, helping to prevent the growth of bacteria and prevent cavities. As the pH in the mouth raises, additional saliva is created, helping to prevent the bacteria that causes cavities.
Eating lots of fruits and vegetables may help decrease cavities as well. They keep you full and prevent you from eating sugary snacks and give your bodies the nutrients they need to stay healthy. This can contribute to healthy gum tissue, which helps prevent gum disease and infection.
Also, avoiding snacking and eating most of your food during meals also helps increase saliva production and helps wash away food particles that may be residing in the mouth.
