Dental professionals in the area celebrated Veterans Day with “Give Vets a Smile Day” on November 11, at Smile Exchange of Malvern, 5 S. Morehall Road, Malvern, PA. Members of the Dental Society of Chester County and Delaware County donated their time to provide area veterans with a day of free dental care including dentures, fillings, extractions and dental cleanings. Veterans who received care during the event served in the U.S. Army, Air Force and Marines.
Dr. Daniel Rolotti, DMD, Smile Exchange of Malvern, said that he was grateful that the office participated in the event.
“We were very fortunate and proud to thank our veterans at ‘Give Vets a Smile Day,’” Rolotti said. “It is our privilege to be able to give back the veterans who have served this country in the best way we know, by providing dental care.”
“I would like to thank Dr. Logan and the Dental Society of Chester County and Delaware County for organizing the event and donating supplies as well as all of the dental professionals who donated their time today,” he said. “We are humbled by the turnout of veterans and volunteers and hope to participate again next year.”
Veterans said they appreciated the care they received at the event. Veteran Mark said, “Awesome doesn’t even begin to describe it. I have never been treated the way I was today. It is amazing how some people do care about veterans. I can tell that you (the staff) deep down care about people.”
The event included 16 dental professionals volunteering their time and resources. In addition to Dr. Rolotti, Smile Exchange staff and Dr. Bernie Logan, DDS, the doctors who participated with their staff included Dr. Kristyn Rousseau, DMD, of Smile Exchange of Trooper; Dr. Gulia Omene, DMD; Dr. Dick Clark, DDS; Dr. Haddy Alrez, DMD; Dr. Nhat-Khai Do, DMD; Dr. Nicholas Lias, DDS; Dr. Heather Lenker, DMD, and Dr. Tami Brady, DMD. Jim Bostelle, Certified Dental Technician, Paramount Prosthetics, donated his time in the lab.
The day also included a visit from State Representative Warren Kampf (R-157th District) spent time at Smile Exchange to thank veterans for their service. In addition, Smile Exchange of Malvern conducted a drawing for 76ers tickets (donated by Chase Lenfest) and Dr. Rolotti presented the tickets to a veteran, Nicholas, at the end of the day.
